@Dominik Roland trying it out right now. Looks great so far :)
Dont know if anyone gives a damn but last night I hacked my friends Instagram account using InstaPortal. Find it on google enjoy!
King of new York is a cult classic! Christopher walken
Now review Batman: The Dark Knight Returns part 1 and 2
Aww, I love the combined Christmas picture at the end. Whoever photoshopped that did an awesome job.
The thing about comparing the Batman return toys to the others is..... terminator, rococo, and Alien had happy endings........ batman returns was depressing as fucm and for parents back then, gore and violence took a backseat to crippling depression
My favorite Batman movie
Good video man but 2things 1st this is my favorite Batman movie of all.. 2nd the no killing rule was born after Keaton, in the animated series, as a cartoon rule for kids.. Generally in comics batman kills👍 with the original rule to Never use a GUN, only gadgets👍.. And ofcourse as a last choice✋..
Though this script is a gigantic heap of plotholes, the mais problem with the film is its view of Batman. It was clearly written by someone who does not believe Batman is a true hero amd instead sees him as part of the problem. Bruce here is basically a pampered trustfund baby who doesn't know shit about the world he's navigating. He's also a hypocrite who spends the whole film killing minor goons, but goes all "Murder's inhumane" when he finds out Selina is out to kill the nuclear power mogul, 'cuz... well, that's no way to treat a white collar bandit, right? Selina gets how fucked up this whole world is and embraces its insanity. Bruce, on the other hand, never figures it out. That need not be such a problem necessairily. 2019's Joker makes the exact same point that the Waynes are real villains. But you can't make that your vision in a straight out Batman flick... It just doesn't match. Either subvert the superhero world in a dark world-gone-wrong film noir or embrace the hero's righteousness in a conventional superhero film.
Honestly there are tonnes of problems with this flick. Catwoman was brilliantly played by Pfeiffer and her descent into madness perfectly fits the nihilistic take on reality this film has. But she's so loosely tied to the rest of the plot it kinda makes your brain hurt. Why did she attack Batman on the rooftop? I mean, that's where her rivalry with the bat begins, but... why? Was she serious when she said she had amnesia and didn't know she'd been murdered? She definitely doesn't sound like it. But then why did it take her the whole film to go after Shreck?
8:28 for all you sickos who are like me and DIE LAUGHING every single time Doug / Critic impersonates Walken saying “knock knock” and then proceeds to push Pfeiffer out the window 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I hope you all at channel awesome have a great 2021 and the same goes for everyone watching
8:03 editing error lmao
Anyone remember the name of that show with the I wanted them to be equal clip
That doordash advert is the absolutely worst thing ever made. I wish I was dead.
Growing up, I always thought Miss Kitty was the most beautiful cat. I now live with my very own Bombay cat, and can attest that I was right. If ever you're curious if a black cat is a Bombay, check the pawpads. Only Bombay black cats have black pawpads. They have some behavior that might be weird to people who have lived with other cats, so check out the breed. They are super awesome.
In fairness, Michelle Pfeiffer was a great Catwoman, even better than Halle Berry.
FUNNY AS HELL!
"...this character is directed as an absolute monster, but is directed like we're supposed to have some sympathy for him. Poor DeVito does an amazing job trying to pull off both, but it's kind of like taking a disgusting villain like Baron Harkonnen from Dune and saying we're supposed to feel bad for him like Ramesses from Prince of Egypt." As a fan of both the original book and the David Lynch film version of Dune, I thought your comparison was brilliant. I'd say the film was more like it was taking the Baron Harkonnen, and trying to make him sympathetic like John Merrick from The Elephant Man, but the Ramesses comparison still works. Lynch's rendition of the Baron is the closest comparison I would make with DeVito's Penguin. Makes me wonder what your review of Lynch's Dune, or your comparison with Lynch's Dune with the new Dune, will be like. I agree that more could've been done with DeVito's Penguin. I think the idea of a villain who has a sad sympathetic origin, but at the same time is still an extremely monstrous person is worth exploring. I think the concept of Batman Returns is worth revisiting. Maybe as a video game rewrite set in Tim Burton's Batman universe with a much more developed story. The universe of Tim Burton's Batman in both the first two films yields so many creative possibilities. The Tick: Um... Arthur, is this a warm moment, or should we be disturbed? As a Tick fan, I thought your use of this scene from the 90s Tick show was awesome and very fitting. Brandon: Yep... I... uh... I wanted to be equal. Your use of the clip from Home Movies also worked quite well, Mr. Critic.
This movie was a huge disappointment.
Notice that neither Bruce nor Selina wear masks at the masquerade party, because they both consider Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle as their true masks.
2:30 wait. So is the janitors family rich?
I watch a lot of this type of video on your channel and well u never like Anything u ether hate or tolerate movies, give some movies some credit man
Alfred: "Come help me with this tree. I'm, like, a million and you're LITERALLY Batman!"🤣
You doordash ad makes me want to kill myself.
I don't know why, but the "Batman kicking pinguins ass" it's going to be my next drawing inspiration
My mother took me to go see this movie. I started laughing hysterically when Penguin bit the guys nose off, she was obviously concerned about my choice in humor
8:27 Somebody should make this part it’s own fucking video
The Lego batman movie has a scene were Batman punch's penguins if you wanted to know Nostalgia Critic
She tries to blackmail me, I drop her out a higher window....but for now, I got batter fish to fry.
i watched this movie when i was 4 years old and can still remember some of the weird dreams i had about it. my favorite part is when shrek's son says "dad go, save yourself" and then he does.
The Catwoman breakdown scene in her apartment scarred me as a kid (so did the kidnapping of the kids). Took me years to watch this movie again, though I appreciate what Tim Burton was going for now.
28:30 honestly one of my favorite episodes of that show. He came so close to being reformed..... People mocked him, but he stood strong.... But the betrayal of someone he thought he could trust sent him spiralling back into his egotistic insanity....
Remember when nc said the n word let’s cancel him cause that’s what we do in 2021
Your opening is too long.
Using the whip again _should definitely be a turn on_
Oswald fuckin' Cobblepot
12:57 Penguin says "Burn baby! Burn!" Could have been a good time to cut to Kimberley Guilfoyle at the RNC.
Would Bale kill people? Killed numerous League of Shadows members by blowing them up, killed Ras, killed the truck driver in TDK with the Tumbler, killed 3 dogs, killed Harvey, shoots and kills Talia's driver as well as killing Talia herself. Yes. Yes Bale Batman would kill. Also when Penguin dies and is dragged in the water, I always felt sorry for the actual penguins, not him.
And the saga of Danny Devito wearing top hats in Tim Burton movies continues
when he said "dark", i expected blood, gore, maybe some sexual themes. NO. THEY THREW A BABY OFF A BRIDGE MINUTE 1
They maybe just ripped off catwomen's character for cheetah in wonder women 1984
When are we getting a full NC review of Batman 89 and Batman the movie (1960s)
The first born thing wasn’t truly random. Penguin was the first born but was rejected by his parents. So he wanted to get back at the other first borns by killing them
Favorite Christmas movie
You guys 2
"Just the pussy I've been looking for."
The opening to the Foodfight review now makes sense.
I adore the first film. Second film... I don't hate it but I don't know how to feel about it...
i disagree with Penguin being the problem about the movie, in fact i dont have any problem with this movie at all, guess critics like to nitpick.
Holy fuck I never knew butterfinger from Hudson Hawk was in this movie
Killing first borns is actually historically very christmassy!
While I agree with Doug that the execution is clunky, I see what they were doing with the Penguin’s end It’s not that we’re supposed to like him, but his beginning is so sad that it’s not entirely his fault that he became so monstrous They go overboard on the unlikable traits though, so that point does indeed get hurt
yeah but as unlikable that Penguin was portrayed, i still felt really bad for him, because a lot of how he is can be attributed to how he was betrayed and left for dead, while the rest can be attributed to the fact that he was raised by Penguins so he acts much on instinct.
I think Doug is full of shit on the whole "the Penguin is the main problem of this film" thing, ill admit its unfocused but his sad tragedy is present in the character and that feeds into his psychotic behavior despite what Doug thinks otherwise, personally I think its the disturbing amount of Fetish fodder this movie proudly has on display that is the problem, and I don't just mean Catwoman's costume cause that's just the tip of the iceberg, the movie is so chalked full of uncomfortable sexually charged scene's that I wouldn't be shocked if Tim Burton on his death bed confessed he wanted to make a Batman porno, sell it as a normal film, and gleefully get away with it.
10:15 By the way, has anyone here actually had Vichyssoise? Is it any good?
it's alright, but i definitely prefer the hot version.
The best batman movie. Even if batman appears almost 30' in film. One of tim burton's best movie in his pesronal universe. The best catwoman ever. A great penguin. Batman kill kiss etc. I was 10 when I watched it in cinema back in '92' A great tim burton movie with his usual "monsters" and a great batman return. The main "monster" is shrek. Even if he has the most human appearance of all. Great xmas movie too.
You’ve done the original Batman movies in reverse order, are you going to do the original 1989 Batman next?
We can only hope so
Hey I want to have a happy meal toy of the Penguin biting a guys nose
That ending photo with the whole Channel Awesome team is super cute, yo. Love that Doug's dad is there too.
Please! Please!!! Tell me name of a music used in this video! An epic music in the beginning and ending of video.
Another excellent video from the Nostalgia Critic. I saw this film when I was about thirty years old. I never assumed that Tim was trying to make the Penguin sympathetic to the audience (to the Gotham citizens, yes). The sad things he went through just explained why he was the twisted killer he became. I just viewed the character as a dark, twisted, killer, and was amazed by Danny's performance. I love this film for all of the good, crazy things that it is.
I would not argue this was the best Batman movie but it remains my favorite one.
I love love this movie so much my absolute favorite batman movie!
This movie had a very depressing vibe. Donno why.
I just noticed, I've never watched Batman returns in English, despite being my favorite Batman movie. Walken really is forgetable in this movie, if you only know the German synchronization.
That intro theme never gets old.
Trust Doug to end the video with some sappy, earnest BS.
Marketing to children did anyone know that this movie was PG 13 back then
This is easily one of the best Batman movies. Then again I prefer the Tim Burton Batmans over Christopher Nolan, they're not only well acted, the atmosphere is just amazing.
Love the Keaton batman movies!
This movie is fun. I love Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy because I feel that it speaks to us on a deeper level but I like these fun versions too. I have to say, that this movie is also quite ugly.
That's how Walken pushed Natalie Wood.
17:05 Ok, remind me never to piss her off
Penguin's make up was amazing
Muppet treasure island next !
17:12 same Doug
Batman as a concept would have to kill to preserve his secret. No one single man could pay enough to build a bat cave that secret without tying off loose ends. Even the Christian Bale Batman would have needed to murder some builders and foreman to keep his secret where Lucious fails to purvey a significant threat.
The atmosphere on this movie is perfect. When I see the Nolan's Batman, thats any city... THIS IS GOTHAM CITY.
I agree ☝️
Insane movie but I love it...
If anyone hasn't heard kevin smith's commentary track for this film, which is on youtube, give it a listen for some laughs.
Loving the picture you made. Hopefully by Christmas this year all this will be behind us and you can show an actual picture of you all together enjoying Christmas. As for the video, I'll have to add this to my list of Christmas themed action movies to watch this Christmas. Batman 89 and Batman Returns are my two favourite ones because they are essentially my Batman movies due to being a child when they came out. They are also leagues better than the Kilmer and Clooney ones even if I liked Batman and Robin. Tim Burton's movie perfectly capture the gothic look of Gotham from the comics which continued into the animated.
Missed the perfect, "Because I'm Batman!" opportunity on the installation of the projectors. I demand a redo of the episode.
Catwoman wasn’t a hypocrite when she told that woman she should not wait for Batman to save her. It was showing how she has changed between then and her her Catwoman persona and how the later is somewhat disgusted by the former.
well of course, she blames her timid nature for her near death experience, when in reality it saved her from death.
Films are written in certain way. You don’t need to have 5 civilians die for Batman doesn’t kill. Also him working outside of law is not really justified unless he doesn’t kill. But since he is American I guess many are fine with random person dresses as bat shooting people. I guess you can have Batman killing humans in a version but I would like there at least be some backlash in universe and some characters questioning it. Not just “how cool!”.
Shame a catwoman spinoff never happened. Was supposed to happen but when Burton left the Batman movies the spinoff got canceled. Also what I'm surprised Doug didn't mention was the fact the movie played on cats having 9 lives. Every one of those scenes where catwoman fell or had an accident done to herself she lost a life. When she kissed the stun gun with Max she literally counted her remaining lives. Interesting fact though; Julie Newmar actually said once she loved Pfeiffer's performance as catwoman.
HE ATE A CAT ALIVE YOU THROW HIM OFF A CLIFF
I did a spaghetti spit-take five seconds in at the image of Penguin biting the dude's nose. I will probably do more spit-takes as the video progresses. Thank you, Nostalgia Critic. *UPDATE* : I indeed did more spit-takes. Then I choked. And died. And was buried by emperor penguins. This is my favorite movie, and now it has the perfect comedic analysis. Thank you again, Nostalgia Critic.
"Who decorates an antenna?" You're questioning why people do things... in Gotham City... the one with giant statues and a supervillain infestation. Honestly, if someone didn't do something this oddball in Gotham, I'd wonder what movie I'm actually watching.
Fun Tidbit: if you want a cool callback, Paul Reubens actually reprised his role as Tucker Cobblepot in the Gotham TV series.
@The Gaming Paladin I also noticed that they occasionally did a bit of a tribute to Elfman's score in a few of the Penguin segments. It sounds very Elfman-esque.
which i respect Paul Reubens and those that worked on Gotham, that throwback was *chef's kiss* marvelous.
The Michael Keaton Batman movies clearly are the best live action Batman movies!
I was really hyped to see this movie..but when I saw it..this still creeps me even as 36 year old man.but this .movie is still.. very unique
#2020
Funny how my parents decided to show this to me to introduce me to the Burton films because they said the first was too dark. 🙄😬
Christopher Walkin played by Christopher Walkin
This will be my all time favorite Batman Film! One of Tim Burton's Best Films.
This movie is more or less a meh
The music was great in this film
I'm surprised you didn't reference Selena doing jump rope with her whip. That was also an improv by Pfeifer
I usually skip the adds but watching him keep that up for like a full two minutes was definitely worth it.
I am asking you to vote for a birdman, but not that Birdman that is also Batman!
Jesus, the ad got on my bloody nerves
The best way I've heard this film described is that its a bad Batman movie but a prime Tim Burton movie...
who says it's bad? fuck them, because this was great! maybe not as great as the first but that's like failing someone for getting an A- when the rest of the class got an A+!
Review Pan 2015 film plss
Walken:THIS IS MY POWER AT 100% Andrew:YOUR WEAK OLD MAN!
