Please please please continue this series, I absolutely loved it
Shirley Temple
I was always a Jim Carrey fan until he became political. His antics in the past few years just appear to be attempts to keep his name out there, when I wouldn't have thought he would need to do so. He used to be a great punchline; now he's just a joke.
I have to say Jim Carrey is a god I like his works on The Mask, Bruce Almighty and Sonic The Hedgehog!
Anothe celebrity you can view thier career on is the actor Robin Williams
Do Brendan Fraser NEST! The Mummy is my FAV movie of all time
Hollywood has a way of...infecting those who’re emotionally vulnerable
The mask was the second live action film I have ever seen and that's when I was introduced to Jim Carrey and because of my autism I reinacted each scene I could remember every face I could replicate he was one of the reasons my dream was to work in the acting industry
Jim Carrey hasn’t made a good movie since anchorman 2 and kickass 2 also I didn’t care for either adaptation of a series of unfortunate events
We need one of these on Robert Downey Jr. Talk about a person who rose, fell, and then monumentally rose again.
Now do one of these with Sylvester Stallone
1:53 Who is that? This isn't Jim Carrey
It really seems like Carrey is extremely influenced by the world around him. I hope his arrogant asshole phase is behind him. He does seem a little more "with it" lately.
I love this!! I would love to see one on...Bill Hader? I find his story very interesting! And James Spader!
Wait, there was a Kickass 2?
Wow, I knew Jim Carrey was Canadian, but I never realized he was from Newmarket. I live a few minutes from there haha.
I'm both relieved and disappointed this video didn't go into his anti-vax shenanigans.
If we’re doing the career dive, the ultimate career dive on someone who changed Hollywood around them has to be Sidney Poitier
Loathed the guy even when I was young. Making funny derpy faces isn't acting.
It's definitely part of it tho, and he does it best. He lacks in some other areas, but that can be said for other greats out there. He's just using what he's got and he uses it well.
I think that no matter what, The Mask is still emblematic of Carrey and his career. On the one hand, you have his take on Stanley Ipkiss, which you see in his serious films like Truman Show, The Majestic, and Eternal Sunshine; on the other you have the Mask, as in Ace Ventura, Dumb and Dumber, and Batman Forever. And you have the 'true nature' of the Mask from the comics, that filters into the Cable Guy, Number 23, and some of his more violent outbursts in the development of Man on the Moon. You'll see a mix of the latter two in both Me, Myself, and Irene as well as his take on Dr. Robotnik/Eggman. If The Mask were the last film he made, we'd call it a perfect capstone. As it is, it's a guiding light to his oeuvre. I wish that at some point in the future, he can join those two important, poignant, and valid parts of himself together. The lesson to take from the Mask isn't to get rid of the zany wild side of yourself, it's to embrace it. To let Stanley be a bit nuts sometimes without going to the extremes of the Mask. That's what I see in his Robotnik, and what I see in him as he's gotten a grip on who he finally wants to be again.
I really liked this as I get older I just find the episodes hard to watch but I love listening to Doug just talk about so much powerful history...
Ok
"No great mind has ever existed without a touch of madness" -Aristotle
holy shit, Jim Carrey is sixty!?!?!?!!?!?!!
is the "right you are, Ken" bit from MXC?
Do Danny devitos one next please
Before he was dead: Jimmy carrey - nostalgia critic
Love Jim ! I'll be waiting for Chris Walken's episode.
I like it
Джимм Керри прекрасный актëр 🤩 Рада была узнать его историю ☺
One of these on Nicolas cage next?
How about Tim Curry? I think he is a great actor and it would be interesting to hear about him from your channel !
Peter Dinklage
I think if you’re going to talk about career dives you gotta talk about Eddie Murphy from action comedy star to kids films
Critic theft this video heading from KinoOgon as soon as they gave up it
He is a lot like Tom Hanks. Demonstrable versatility in dramatic and comedic roles.
Keep in mind with kick ass 2 out of all school shootings that one was the worst.
What a fantastic video essay
Jim has always been awesome, but now he is pretty fuckin deep too. A real talent.
Um Thomas the tank engine is great nostalgia history
Please do Career Dive for - Adam Sandler, Danny DeVito, Nicolas Cage, Will Ferrell and Bill Murray
This "to be series" is definitely something I would be interested in. There's just so many fascinating life-stories out there of people who went trough tremendous changes and unthinkable misfortunes that in itself it would provide an endless amount of material to work with. So yeah, keep it coming!
Carrey's eggman was really fun to watch. i hope he is in sonic 2.
Honestly Jim Carrey has stuck with me for a long time as he showed me it was ok to be childish, loud and silly sometimes. He really influenced me in many ways and I’m very proud of that truthfully.
0:32 hello there
Hmm this is interesting video I would like to see Keanu Reeves or Robert Downey Jr 🤔 two people that had some Downs and ups in life
Can't wait to see more from this series. Very cool idea. Also Bat-May
Were you implying in the intro that Carrey isn’t good looking?
Do a Career Dive about Doug Walker
Though I’m straight, but “I love you,Phillip Morris” is my favourite *gay comedy* and my fav Jim’s acting that suits great for tone of the movie.
Ooh, Kingdom Hearts for Disneycember? can't wait for it. Though I gotta since it'll take a literal year-
i will say this, for sure: people of fame, no matter where it comes from, or how it comes about. once they get so big, they will have an identity crisis. they will try ANYTHING to see if the person everyone knew them as, can change into something else. for better or for worse. it happens to basically EVERY giant star. but, eventually, they come back down. they stop the roles. and they become themselves again. i loved jim carry for who he was. and that isnt gone! its just...pushed beneath. for now.
Jim Carrey always has 3 of each type of film: comedy: • ace ventura • dumb and dumber • the mask dramas: • truman show • man on the moon • eternal sunshine of the spotless mind drama/comedy: • liar liar • yes man • bruce almighty
Unhinged actors like Jim Carrey are part of the reason why we have biden as president. Thanks for that, ASSHOLE!!! (Jim, not NC)
You should review Batman beginning
Hot Take: While Comedian Jim Carrey is fine, I was blown away by his dramatic material and his awakening. I think his awakening is inspiring to me. As someone who has spent their life depressed, it was great to see him struggle so hard in the same way. I don't think he is crazy, I think he is actually really intelligent. The smartest people can act like idiots sometimes.
Would definitely love to see a Robert Downey Jr. Could possibly dive into him in the 80s and 90s, his relationship with his dad, and his big comeback
it would be amazing if you did one of these on chris farley his career is so fascinating along with robin Williams
Great new series! I think an interesting to dive into next would be Robert Downey Jr. He has such an interesting career and story. One of my favorite actors working today!
I would like the deep dive... Also, HIS 60?! DAMN!
Jim's right about the fact that the self is a story we tell ourselves, but saying things like "we don't matter", that's not spirituality man!
Jim is da best
Nice to see this still running, best one was pokemon the movie review
i honestly would like to see Jim Carrey get a role as The Joker
Channel Awesome doing a career dive video? The Irony Gods are having fun tonight.
$15 million budget, not $72M. You must've been looking at the domestic gross
Do a career dive on yourself next lmao
Carrey was such a MASSIVE part of my childhood. I can't even count the amount of times I've watched The Mask, Ace Ventura, Dumb and Dumber, and Liar Liar growing up.
I like the proposed format and subject matter.
I will never not love Jim Carrey. 🤗
Review earth girl are easy...it doesn’t get the love it should
It was so surprising and same time so weird to me (a brazilian) to see he's using a stock pic of a checkbook from the brazilian bank Itaú to illustrates the concept of payment and stuff.
Ventura's budget was 15 mln. 72 mln = US box office.
Get woke....go broke....So many millions of Americans sick to death of having politics shoved down their throats via things that are supposed to entertain them and make them laugh.
$72 MILLION!!! That can't be right. Where the hell did they spend $72M on Ace Ventura? .......hold on................wiki says Production Budget was $15M. Now that may not include marketing/distribution. But still, I don't think they spent $72M total producing/distributing Ace Ventura.
I wasn't expecting to ever see the Montreal olympic stadium in a Nostalgia Critic video one day (in the us stamp commercial message). I live right by it. I had never seen it from above either, kinda neat :)
This was really enjoyable to watch. Well done.
I used to watch the Ace Ventura movies and The Mask so often as a kid that I referred to Jim Carrey as "Cousin Jim."
Every time I saw Jim being an ass I just wanted to ask "bro... You doing alright?" That's the kinda state you get to when your in your head ALL the time
"Kidding" is so underrated and I'm sad it was cancelled after only 2 seasons. It was fantastic♡
Jim would remind me of a young Jerry Lewis with his antics....Like Lewis the older he got, the acting range expanded
4:15 Man that just makes me want to watch it even more.
Funfact: Tupac Shakur was a huge fan from Jim Carrey. Rest In Peace Tupac, you handsome and talented SOB.
I just watched him in Poetic Justice and Juiced, it sucks he only got asshole roles. Feels like he deserved better roles than that but I assume he thought he would've done more movies
Jim Carrey did amazing as Dr. Robotnik in The Sonic The Hedgehog Movie.
I would watch every video like this
How dare you remind me of pools in this carona season
pools are freaking gross even before corona
So weird you did this and started with Jim carrey... like I just decided to start watching movies by certain actors and I started with him. My fav growing up was liar liar. The jim c movie options are pretty limited now by all the different apps. But out of all the currently available movies the Truman show was really cool considering 2021 is the first time I've seen it. But earth girls are easy is next on my list . Found it on hbo max.
Jim Carreys still my favorite actor. I really like his most recent movie sonic, he kinda stole the show in it for me.
Very influencial in my childhood too
:)
I'm pretty sure Carrey made the Mask first, it just took so long to do the visual effects it came out AFTER Ace Ventura. He got the role in Mask after the director saw his stand up and how he can stretch his face like a cartoon.
I can think of other episode titles that deserves a deeper look: Career Dive: Nostalgia Critic. 😏😏😏😏😏😏😏
Am I the only one who thinks The Bad Batch was okish at best but Jim Carrey's performance in it was the saving grace of the whole thing?
just gave a lecture at my film school about him. magical beast of a ma. PS doug ya gotta change your wall behind you those holes or whatever are very distracting,
Nostalgia critic is the Jim Carey of movie critics
Hello. I am from Russia and this is very cool video!!
Think you should do one of Sylvester Stallone's and Schwarzenegger's career. Those two defined the action genre for decades.
I love The Majestic! It’s maybe my FAVORITE movie. I’d love a NC review of it ....but there probably isn’t a lot of room for comedy by mocking it.
I don't know who played the better villain in series of unfortunate.. Jim Carey, or NPH
Please do more of these. This was great!
10:09 porque meu banco apereceu no vídeo?
I don’t care what anyone says about Carrey. He’s still one of the funniest actors I’ve ever seen.
I still quote In Living Color to this day.
TIM CURRY!
