Wonder Woman 1984 (stylized on-screen and often abbreviated as WW84) is a 2020 American superhero film based on the DC Comics character Wonder Woman. It is the sequel to 2017's Wonder Woman and the ninth installment in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). The film is directed by Patty Jenkins from a script she wrote with Geoff Johns and Dave Callaham, based on a story by Johns and Jenkins. Gal Gadot stars as Diana Prince / Wonder Woman, alongside Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal, Robin Wright, and Connie Nielsen. Set in 1984 during the Cold War, the film follows Diana and her past love Steve Trevor as they face off against Max Lord and Cheetah.

  • This is funny because I was sitting in the theater the scene where she takes down the guy that almost raped her happened and I quoted the line this is sexual-harassment I don’t have to take it idk My friend laughed

  • This movie is so not giving a shit about what you expect from it and just goes completely insane to the point where I believe this was their intention. And even if it wasn't, the fact that it convinced me of the opposite is the reason why I love it. It's just...so funny to watch this movie losing all of it's sanity.

  • I just realized how they could get around that "I'm technically touching everyone on Earth through this satellite technology" BS: Keep the part about it being able to broadcast to all TVs, and then have Lord go to someone and have them wish that he can grant wishes without needing to touch people. Done.

  • I saw this movie twice in theaters. The first time was in IMAX and the second time was in a regular theater on my birthday. And in both viewings, the movie to me was alright. It has silly moments for sure and times where I can buy it happening in their universe, but overall, it was a fine film and had more to it than the last one (bigger action scenes, a more sense of fun, as well as humor and a more simplified story).

  • Gremlins 2: The New Batch is actually a good entertaining film, where as WW84 is awful. When the first WW came out, Zack Snyder’s role as a producer was very pronounced in the film’s action scenes, which questioned Jenkin’s command as a director. WW84 is all Jenkins, and it was very boring when it was not busy being disturbing.

Hitler knew America would have joined sooner or later but the plan was to only declare when Japan attacked. Long story short, Hitler did not underestimate America he overestimated the IJN. • I like this film. Because it's funny, I mean, I enjoyed it, I laughed, and had a very good time watching it! It's weird, and it's completely different from what we saw in the previous WW films. Why? Well, the bad guy in this movie is not a galactic Napoleon, but a damn STONE! Pedro Pascal was over the top, and the road scene was intense and almost perfect. The only weak point was the presentation of Cheetah, but... I can't explain it... but it's so bizarre that I love it!!

  • I understand why these two like this movie: it is just so over-the-top, zany, and bright that it's just hilariously fun to watch. But the problem is that people are kind of getting tired of bright and comedic comic book movies. People want to see more dramatic stuff like the dark knight. That's why a lot of people are going to independant projects and anime. It isn't bad to have a bright and comedic mcu-style film once and a while, but it's gotta fit that character. That's why people love Shazam and the deadpool movies. But people in general are just getting fatigue of all of these comic book movies since they're mainly from two studios (marvel and dc), and how you have a lot of comic book movies that are just trying to be like the MCU. It's getting tiring for some people, especially comic book fans.

  • I kept thinking why this film was set in 1984 when it could have easily been set in any era, but going by Rob and Doug's logic of not taking it seriously, it hit me. This film was written like it was supposed to have been made in 1984. Like, just imagine all the batshit crazy action and superhero movies that came out in the 80s and tack on a higher budget and better special effects and you have this. A bonkers action film that was fuelled by cocaine and crazy ideas, made with more money then sense.

  • 10:47 Well yeah. Lord's whole motivation is that he was fed up with disappointing people. He hated being seen as a conman, and he hated disenchanting his son. Hence he took the Dreamstone and sought to grant wishes on a global scale. Rather than earning people's approval, he sought to conjure it up. This is why we had the prologue scene where young Diana learned that winning the admiration of the masses at the expense of one's integrity is a false imitation of heroism. That message comes full-circle.

  • Pedro Pascal is great in The Mandalorian. He sucks bad in this film. This film's writer ruined the new Mortal Kombat film, so no praise shall be given to any aspect of Wonder Woman 1984. Imagine if they did that to Batman... Oh wait, they did. They let Joel Schumacher direct. Granted, if he had made the tone similar to The Lost Boys, Batman Forever and Batman & Robin would've been *vastly* more enjoyable.
